IDEAS AND PROPOSALS
FORMAL ELEMENTS PROJECT MOODBOARD

This moodboard is my inspiration for the photographs that I hopped to take during my formal elements project (which is the content of this website).
STREET ART PHOTOSHOOT PLAN

DEVELOPMENT OF MY FINAL PIECE
As the title of my project is formal elements, there are many different things that I could have explored within this outcome, from natural forms to architecture, as the formal elements appear in anything and everything allowing me to experiment and showcase how, along with compositional techniques, formal elements can make huge differences in photographs.
For this outcome, I had the idea of making an immersive style projection of my photographs that have sound which accompanies the photos. Each photo has sound that fits the scene of photograph to make the audience feel as if they are “at the scene of the photo” which creates an immersive experience.
This idea came from looking at the ways that artists have had their work presented. For example, the Van Gogh Experience created by teamLab, an architectural group. I saw this and felt like it would be a great way to present my final piece as it almost brings the photographs to life.
I created a short photo montage clip using my photos so that I could experiment with presenting my photos in a digital way. It allowed me to see the processes that I needed to follow to make my outcome and what difficulties there could have been when creating it. This is on the “experiments” section of my website.
For my final piece, I decided to use my travel shoot and create an immersive style piece by using my photographs and adding short clips of sounds that I had put together to fit the scene of each individual photograph. For example, if my photograph is of the sea, I would have used “sea sounds” and sounds of seagulls etc to accompany the photograph. This will take viewing the photograph to a different level, as you are not only just looking at a photograph, but you are also “listening to it”. You are almost transported to the location of the photo as the accompanying sounds give the photograph more context and a point of view. Unlike a video, the still photograph only gives you an insight to the location, and with the added sound, you are made to use your imagination to think about what would be happening around you and what else you would be seeing if you were there.
I also added these photos to my previously made website for easy access. I felt like the immersive style was a good way to present my work as I was able to present many photos in order to display my photographic skills, and the photographs chosen have also shown my exploration of the formal elements. This style has also made my work more engaging for the audience as it doesn’t simply attract you visually, but also audibly.
