SHOOT EVALUATIONS
Evaluations of my photoshoots.
The aim of this photoshoot was to capture a range of successful photographs focusing on the formal element colour and how it has been displayed in street art. The photographs here that I have taken link to my personal project of formal elements as their main purpose is to show colour (a formal element). My work lightly relates to some of the work by photographers: Henry Chalfant, James Prigoff and Nico Goodden. These photographers all have similarities between their work and mine such as subject matter, compositional techniques, and formal elements.
The first photograph, I feel is successful as firstly, the main objective of this shoot was to focus the shoot on the formal element of colour. This photograph is full of colour, therefore meeting the aim of the shoot. Secondly, I feel that this is a successful photograph as there are many compositional techniques, including; focus, filling the frame, lighting, contrast and viewpoint. In my opinion, the use of viewpoint and contrast is the main thing that made the colour in this image stand out the most as a different viewpoint with not as much contrast would have completely changed the outcome of the photograph. Finally, there are a few formal elements in this photo which helps to make it a “successful” photo. We can see; line, tone, shape, repetition and pattern along with most importantly, colour. These factors all make a photo “successful”. The photograph has also been slightly edited to enhance its features, making it appear more eye-catching and appealing to its audience.
This photograph, in my opinion, is successful as it meets the objective of the shoot, the colour in this photo is obvious. Another reason why I think this is a successful photo is because it has been composed using a range of compositional techniques and formal elements. The compositional techniques used in this photo are; rule of thirds, lighting, contrast, viewpoint and focus. The formal elements we can see that have been used are; colour, shape, tone, repetition and line. The contrast in this photo has caused the colour to be more visible in this photograph. The viewpoint and use of repetition also creates an effect that entices you to follow the direction of the “repetition”, allowing the audience to subconsciously scan the entirety of the photo which also contributes to the prominence of the colour in this image.
The final photograph I feel is successful, as it, like the previous photos in this evaluation, meet the objective of this shoot of displaying colour. It also has been composed using a range of both compositional techniques and formal elements. We can see a clear use of the compositional techniques; focus, contrast, viewpoint, lighting, filling the frame, and composition. The formal elements in this photo are colour, tone, shape, pattern, line and form. I think that the use of contrast and lighting increase the visibility of the colour in this photo, making it look slightly more appealing to the audience. Also, the section of contrasting subject matter also break up the “full frame” allowing for the photo to appear more eye catching.
I could further develop this shoot by creating a range of different edits focusing on colour. For example, I could investigate Nico Goodden more and strengthen the link between his work and mine by making partial colour edits in his style.

The aim of this photoshoot was to capture a range of successful photographs focusing on the formal element line and how it can be displayed in nature. The photographs here that I have taken link to my personal project of formal elements as their main purpose is to display line in a range of ways using natural subject matters. my work lightly relates to some of the work by photographers: Awoiska Van Der Molen, Robert Knight, and Eliot Porter. These photographers all have slight similarities between their work and mine such as subject matter, compositional techniques, and formal elements.

I could further develop this shoot by creating a range of different edits focusing on line. For example, I could create edits in the style of photographer, Serge Hamad, who's style mainly is focused on line.

The aim of this photoshoot was to capture a range of successful photographs focusing on how I could combine the formal elements as best as I could to capture unique and attractive photographs. The photographs here that I have taken link to my personal project of formal elements as their main purpose is to show how the formal elements work together to create successful photographs. My photos from this shoot are like those of photographers:. Lu Wenpeng and Silvio Fierro. Also, the way this photo has been enhanced really highlights parts of the photograph, giving the photo depth.
I could further develop this shoot by creating a series of double exposure photographs. For example, I could investigate Aneta Ivanova and how she combines portrait photography with landscape and architectural photography to create meaningful photographs. This will also allow me to not only explore how I can use different formal elements or compositional techniques, but also how I can combine different styles of photography together.
